Earth Eater
I whispered in her heart,
To breathe a little life
No words sparked a fire
She was dead already by this time.
I built a bonfire in the backyard
And wrote a letter to my love
In hopes the ink would burst to blood
So she'd rise up from the smudge.
At the tuft of the tree,
I placed the message there
I let the mirth eat the gift
So she can read while she's down there.
We're alone in our travels
They say we'll meet in the end
My loneliness got the best of me
So I tapped on her coffin lid.
Descend, descend!
Loathe the waiting,
I would follow her right in.
To where that tunnel travels,
For her, I'd walk to hell and back again.
