Halloween is Dead
There are no decorations,
When I look out and see
A neighborhood too plain,
Communities withering.
Trees leaves die too quick
Too long to wait, unfold.
A canopy of sky
My mind it ebbs and flows.
The houses all line up
Chipped paint, bark, and beast.
Hidden beyond a fence
Canines howl with grief.
Boredom is not a frame of mind
But a picture of outer truth.
No one on the streets
The pavement painted gloom.
Friends and families torn apart
Ends and Lies within
That's the truth in the words
For the titles that you give.
You use to, use, and used.
In the current and past tense
Your Halloween costume
Is the face you shower with.
Tires screech here and loud
Just from down the lane
How I waited for Halloween
But it is just like every day.
No squash, no lantern
Stickers or bones
No spider webs or streamers
Plastic spiders & tombstones
A Community dies in disbelievers.
We tried and tried too hard
To hold a vigil to the flame
Every door and window closed
This neighborhood decays.
When I look out and see
A neighborhood too plain,
Communities withering.
Trees leaves die too quick
Too long to wait, unfold.
A canopy of sky
My mind it ebbs and flows.
The houses all line up
Chipped paint, bark, and beast.
Hidden beyond a fence
