Standing in the Driveway, Waiting for You
A war-torn heart plowed down, on dismal light draws pain
Through windy leaves and clouds, standing within the rain.
Touching twig piles dance, as mist hath swelled this eve,
The picture of you is damp and distant
& without it, this heart, it cannot breathe.
When leering in the distance: I see you coming around the bend,
Yet, as I surely blink, your image is gone again.
