The Penance of Dreaming
Roses turn to carpet
Snow fills them like dunes,
I'm standing in the driveway
Haunted by the view.
Dazed in recollection
As solar suns still shine,
The message that I keep
Is the voice you left behind.
Wooden walls shall creak
The past flows out as wine,
I'm going for the paper
With you upon my mind.
Crickets click to sing
That home is hid by dark
Phantom wails in silence,
For your face will never part.
Water reaches surface
Sprinkled across the lawn,
Footsteps stand in echo
Of you still moving on.
My screams have grown much dimmer,
Captured by the time,
For when you are far away
I slowly die inside.
Part of me is broken
You'll never be erased
Each footstep that I bare
Places sadness upon my face
Each breath ment to live,
My hands to only give,
In sickness and in health
A gaze to which begins.
You may not apprehend,
Nor feel the void of mine.
For every day I see sunrise
I dream you standing by.
The skies will blacken out
Controlling all the suns
Countless hours
Losing sleep,
Dreaming us as one.
The sun will slowly rise,
Return! I must confess
Let me place my head on you
So I can surely rest.
