Chthonic Caller

 (Written in 2020 while leaning against The Giant's Coffin boulder inside Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.) 

Abominable Darkness 

I meet you at the mouth 

Into the haunting halls of silence 

Beyond where water trickles down 

Erebus clutching hand, 

Dragging to the Styx 

Walking in my nightmare realm 

To welcome watered-wish. 

Tartarus will beckon, shivering to the spine, 

Calling me home to the river 

Where Lethe dreams with respite.
