Redefining Survival
I could never find the lines
That define me as a man.
I tend to run in circles
Without a definitive plan.
I tried to find my love,
In a world I never believed in.
Or was I trying to seek some peace
From a world, I never really fit in?
I have heard so many times, in my life:
"Give up your dreams, get a nine to five."
"You will never inspire. So fall in line."
"Your goals are dead, so why even try?"
-Join in, with the rest of us. . .
See, no two paths are directly the same,
And no two goals are made the same way.
And, every wise woman has once said:
"You've Got · To Have · A Plan!"
Before all roads walked, lead to dead ends.
A dead-end job with dead-end pay,
A dead-end existence,
Waiting for your dead-end grave;
Because all of your plans... are just thoughts.
But a thought is an idea. It's birthed from the mind.
It takes action to enact, and a patience for time.
Because no one told you: "It will be hard."
Striving for better in your years of disappointing
With the shunning and rejection,
It's just the way the world works.
Your life · comes at · a cost.
We had to learn, by the ways of error.
Holding on tight, for something worth cherished.
Being swallowed at sea by a populous starved,
Then thrown into a yard with a pack of hungry dogs;
Redefining Survival.
You might have to find out the hard way...
So join in, like the rest of us.
