You Couldn't Comfort me While you Were at Home
I had my doubts,
I had my suspicions
When the long talks went away
When the "I love you" faded into yesterdays.
You told me my worth, and told me to leave you in the same sentence.
You couldn't miss me if you wanted to.
You couldn't comfort me while you were at home.
You couldn't say what weighed on your soul.
You were too busy.
You said you didn't have the energy for us.
You didn't have time.
You didn't want me waiting
Missing out on some make-believe situation that never occurs.
It has been you I have been waiting for, this whole time.
You wanted everything to be a certain way.
A perfect place, in an imperfect world
Where nothing will ever be perfect.
I hope I am one less burden, one less cut, one less blow.
If I was worth so much, why was it so easy for you to let me go?
My guess: is that it was easier than sharing your thoughts.
