A Rose, by Any Other Name
From the stamen and its pollen
Fuchsia petals fallen.
Pricked thumbs,
Press osmosis rubbings.
Stripped and split,
Lining the bed.
Filament features brushing stigma.
The anthers panting from your sweating.
In heat...
The ovaries open this spring.
May day, May day,
The Captain's diving in!
A sepal smile,
Watching the waters rush in.
Moored hands,
Digging those features.
Capsizing the want, descending deeper.
Rooted hands, woven nutria splinters.
Bone bent from the bark.
The panting in winter.
Hushing winds, with fingers in mouth
Pressing and pulling,
Unfurling, kneeling, biting down.
